Veteran Indian footballer Chunni Goswami passed away

Veteran Indian footballer Chunni Goswami passed away on Thursday. Goswami, 82, died of a heart attack. His son said he was taken to Kolkata City Hospital for a routine checkup in the morning. In the evening after returning, he had 3 heart attacks in just 14 minutes, which led to his death.

The son said he had breakfast and after that we took him to the hospital. They were taken for a routine checkup. After that they ate lunch and later went to bed for a while. But at five o’clock he had three heart attacks in 14 minutes.

The Indian team won a gold medal in the 1962 Asian Games under the captaincy of veteran Indian footballer Captain Chunni Goswami. Not only football but Goswami also tried his hand at cricket. From Bengal he played a firstclass match.
